Welcome to Tandon

We are very excited to have you, the newest member of the Class of 2028, join our community of students and scholars in Spring 2025!

Spring admission will allow you to graduate in May 2028, the same graduation date as students who enter in Fall 2024. A dedicated team of academic advisors are available to support you throughout your time at Tandon, helping to answer questions you might have about course selection, graduation requirements, academic options, leadership and service opportunities, and more. Please feel free to contact us with any questions at [email protected].

Tech in Service to Society

Tandon maintains a strong commitment to preparing STEM professionals who will be able to actively participate in, and be of service to, our local communities and global society. Informed by the principles of invention, innovation and entrepreneurship, students understand, through their academic and co-curricular experiences, that a degree in STEM is more than a demonstrated mastery of math and science — it’s the recognition of and responsiveness to societal needs, the enhancement of existing tech solutions and the creation of markets for new ones to thrive.

Evidence of our guiding philosophies can be found in our curriculum as early as the first semester of enrollment. As a Tandon student, you'll complete your first-year requirements, in the spring semester and summer terms, based on your major’s prescribed course of study:

Completion of your summer coursework will require you to take classes from late May through to mid-August, for a total of 12 weeks. This should provide you with approximately a half month between spring and summer and a half a month between summer and fall. Use this time to recharge!

              Personalized Attention, Support, and Encouragement

We recognize how important it is for students to feel supported, academically and otherwise, throughout their academic career. This is particularly important here, at the School of Engineering, as our curriculum is quite rigorous. For these reasons, the following services will be a part of your experience as a spring admit:

We believe that these services, along with the other forms of support available at Tandon, will provide you with the resources to ascend to the top of your engineering game and stay there!

              Getting Started @ Tandon

              New Student Experience
Your first-year advisor will serve as your primary guide throughout your acclimation to Tandon, creating a space for you to articulate your academic and professional goals, while connecting you to the various support services in the community. Community building activities, designed to help you form meaningful connections with your peers, will be provided throughout your first year. Below is a quick snapshot of some of the shared moments you will navigate, individually and with your peers, during your transition to Tandon:

              • Registration: Registration for the Spring 2025 semester opens for new students in November 2024 and you will be contacted via your NYU email address about the process for selecting classes. Until then, you should review the Tandon Academic Bulletin, which will help you prepare for registration and understand program requirements. Completion of any required placement exams, as well as the submission of advanced standing credits, will also occur during this period. Review the registration clearance process.

              • Tandon Orientation: Orientation for Tandon is scheduled to start in late January 2025. Together, new students will learn more about the academic mission and values of Tandon, and establish meaningful relationships with peers. Throughout orientation, you will enjoy many events and programs, academic sessions and workshops, and activities designed to help you acclimate to Tandon and New York City. For information about this experience, as well as other important dates and checklists preparing for your arrival, visit Accepted Undergraduates.

              • Residence Hall Move-In: TBA
For students living on-campus, look for an email from the the Office of Housing and Residential Life which will provide you information on your housing assignment, as well as move-in instructions in early January.

              • NYU Spring Welcome: TBA
NYU Spring Welcome hosts over 200 events for new and returning students! The welcome activities take place during the first few weeks of the spring semester, offering a series of special events, information sessions and meetups for all students to kickstart the new semester. Recommended activities will be highlighted in welcome materials from your advisor, though you are welcome to attend as much as possible. See a preview
